Gladys Anne Labsan's Online Visual Arts Portfolio
Who, Me?
Background:
So, this is what happened after I was born...
I am a mother of five girls and a wife to an amazing man. I work as a full-time SEO Content Writer and Content Editor.
I have always been inclined to art even when I was young. I started drawing people when I was five and it, indeed, looked like a four-legged spider with a head. I started copying characters from Archie's comic books and DragonBall Z. My first real involvement with art is through crafts. I did beadwork when I was young. Sure, I draw, too, but it was not something I was really good at (based on my standards, I guess). I also created theater props, jewelry, bags, decorative boxes, decor, face painting, and many, many more (I've lost track).
Fast forward to today. I took painting seriously and so I am showing it off..I mean, showcasing it through this poor excuse of a website. Bear with me.
Vision:
My hand paints what my heart feels.
Right now, I have yet to develop my own style. Something that I would stick to, claim as my own. This is difficult for me because I have a bit of crazy versatility sprinkled on me. My paintings are often guided by what I feel, what I believe in, and what is greatly influencing me at the exact time that I am in front of a blank canvas with a brush in my hand.
What I want to emphasize, however, are themes about mothers, women, and God's creations. I often paint women or girls but I don't scream "Girl Power!" I just love painting the features and activities that make a woman a woman. I don't know if I am making sense.
Also, I want to show mothers out there that it is never too late to pursue your passion. I am at my 40s and I have just begun my journey in the art world 5 years ago. I believe that God gave me this gift for a reason: to earn profit for my family, to help me express and manage my emotions, ideals, and outbursts, to inspire others in some way, and most of all, to be an instrument to celebrate the beauty of God's magnificence.
